Through my commitment to serving others, my hope is to propel others into their God given purposes with humility, truth and compassion. I seek to accomplish this through my scholarship/writing, teaching, consulting and clinical work, advocacy and mentorship.Â

Dominique as a school social worker
Dominique hails from the Southside of Chicago where she served as a school social worker and educator for a little over a decade. She served the social and emotional needs of students with and without diverse learning needs. Dominique collaborated with teachers to develop interventions and strategies for their students. She also collaborated with school administrators to develop school climate improvement plans and supported them in responding to crisis situations. She completed assessments for students referred for special education services and completed Individualized Education Plans.
Dominique responded to in-school crisis situations such as suicidal or homicidal ideations demonstrated by students and worked with outside agencies such as the Department of Children and Family Services and behavioral hospitals to best meet students’ emotional and mental health needs. She provided tiered interventions to schools to support social-emotional learning and implement positive behavioral interventions. She collaborated with community organizations to provide additional supports for the schools I serviced. Lastly, Dominique collaborated with and served families to support their needs.
Dominique as a licensed clinical social workerÂ
Dominique is a licensed clinical social worker currently providing telemental health services through her private practice, Becoming. Her specialties include women’s issues, self-esteem, anger management, ADHD, and stress/anxiety among others. Dominique is constantly learning and growing as a practitioner.
Dominique as a budding scholar
Dominique is a Social Work Ph.D. candidate at the Brown School where her research interests focus on the impact of racism on the education, well-being, and social mobility of Black children and their families. She primarily examines these issues through the lens of K-12 education.
Dominique as a public servantÂ
Dominique genuinely enjoys supporting others. She served as a field instructor and mentor for newly hired and intern school social workers. Last school year, Dominique served as a graduate student mentor, supporting first-year doctoral students. Finally, Dominique had the unique opportunity to serve as a White House intern under the Obama administration where she engaged in public service, policy, and social work on mezzo and macro levels.
A few of her interests include providing safe spaces for women of color, theatre, music, being with friends and family and trying new restaurants.Â
